We didn’t just arrive in Komodo. We’ve been here, living it—running our own boat, learning every trail, tide, and trick of the sea.

Why We Started Rafida

Rafida Adventure was born out of curiosity—and a bit of frustration.

Back in 2018, we saw how many travelers struggled to find an operator they could truly trust. Most tours felt rushed, impersonal, or simply didn’t reflect the real spirit of Komodo. We knew this place had more to offer—if you knew where to look.

So we bought a boat. Built a small, dedicated team. And spent years exploring—learning every cove, reef, and ridgeline. We made mistakes. Found the right crew. Connected with the right locals. And kept improving. Today, we use that hard-earned experience to design personal and honest journeys through Komodo. The kind that stay with you long after the trip ends.

Where it all began : Rafida Boat

Our story didn’t start with an office. It started with a boat.

In 2018, we set sail on Rafida—a hand-built Indonesian Phinisi, crafted by master boatbuilders of Sulawesi. More than just a vessel, she became our classroom, our test ground, and our home as we explored every cove, reef, and ridgeline of Komodo.

Life on Rafida wasn’t always easy. We made mistakes, learned the tides, and discovered the rhythm of the islands. But it was here—on the wooden decks of this traditional boat—that we began to understand what it really means to travel Komodo with honesty and heart.

Rafida isn’t just part of our name. She’s the reason we are Komodo’s Real Insider. Every journey we design today is rooted in the lessons we learned onboard her.
